Car insurance company that insures for occasional drivers?

I'm overseas about 99% of the year but I have both of my cars rented out on GetAround in San Francisco. GetAround insures the cars while they are being used by renters and the cars do maybe about 5K miles a year.

I sometimes have a friend drive my cars in to get serviced and cleaned and I sometimes use them for when I come back to the US.

Right now my cars have a full insurance policy from AllState. Considering that I drive it only about a week out of the year, my friend drives it for two, and all the other miles are being driven by GetAround customers with GetAround insurance, I think my AllState coverage is overkill.

Can someone recommend an insurance company that covers my friend and I in this case? I think the tricky thing is mileage - my friend and I will maybe put 1,000 miles on it in a year, but the other 9,000 miles are done through renters with their GetAround insurance. So am I supposed to tell my insurance company that it gets driven 1,000 miles a year or 10,000?

I would bet you could cancel your insurance and when you get to the states for the week or so go first thing and purchase insurance for a month...I know of no wekly policies....

Could you and your friend rent them from GetAround or would that be fraud or a terms of service violation?

I would call and ask. Most insurance companies offer low mileage rates, meaning you pay significantly less if you drive less than XXXX/year, however, they will ask your odometer reading from time to time.

If it has good tags, it needs to be insured. He'd have to be on permanent rental which would be expensive.
