Car engine question,

How much horse power does a Ford Escort 1996 station wagon with a 1.9L engine have? My parents have a 1.6L I think, and it's got 115hp, just wondering how much HP the 1.9L has.

my '95 escort lx has like 88hp. fear.

It depend on alot of things other than raw HP.

Auto or Manual tranmission, Tranmission ratio, curb weight.

An automatic tranny can easily suck away more than 9 HP in terms of performance if you have a 5 sp and they have an auto...perhaps the escort is a bit heavier?

Thats what I thought, my civic is 5spd, but a 4 door sedan. I would think the escort and the civic weigh about the same. I havn't driven the escort at highway speeds but my civic really sucks in 4th or 5th gear, no power at all.
