I'm stuck between two cars and two parents.

My parents are split up, just to let you know so theres no confussion.

Here's the thing, as some of you might remeber, I made an offer for my moms car for $7500 (candian), and she called me yesterday and told me she accepted it (she found a good deal on an other car).

But heres the problem, my dad got jelous I guess and offered to sell me his car for $5000! Now I can't decide which car to buy. I would rather have my moms car because it's a 5sp, and a better car over all but it will fit in my budget tightly.

Moms car:
96' Honda Civic LX, 4dr, 5sp, ABS, Cruise control, AC, 152 000KM
-$7500 (cnd)

Dads car:
96' Ford Escort LX Wagon, Auto, Power everything, AC, Remote starter, No Cruise, 95 000KM.
-$5000 (cnd)

Should I get the civic and have a tighter budget or get the Escort and have a car thats not as fun to drive, it probably won;t last me as long either but I wouldn't be so tight on my budget?

I would go with the Civic because it is more reliable and will last longer. In the long run you will spend less money on maintenance and you will have a car that will last a long time.

I would go with the civic. It may be tighter on the budget now, but they are better cars over time and should be more dependable....

besides, you already made a 'deal' with your mom anyway. you offered, she accepted. take a civic because it is a better car AND you already agreed to buy it.

The escort wouldn't be a bad car, but the Civic would definately be more comfortable. Its your money, if you like driving the Civic that much more than the escort then I'd take it.

Go for the Civic.

The mileage shouldnt be a worry either - IF it has been maintained properly.

Well I guess everyone will be happy now.

I'm gonna buy my moms civic at the end of the month, and she now wants to buy a brand new civic or corolla.

My dad put his car up for sale and is going to sign the papers at the dealer ship on monday for a brand new Subaru Legacy L.
