Car crash update... Where else can I look to buy a 1997 Tbird?

Some of you may remember that thread about how someone smashed into the back of my 1997 Tbird. I absolutely loved that car and now I'm totally getting screwed.

Besides my medical problems (the back of my head has been hurting for two weeks straight now, and my neck muscles are still all really tight and knotted), they're really trying to screw me on my car.

I bought an aftermarket 100,000mile/5year warranty for $900. The warranty had about 6 months left on it.

I installed a $1200 stereo myself.

It was in perfect condition, 4.6l V8, Metallic Blue, Alloy Rims, Moonroof, Leather Seats, 4wheel disc brakes, twighlight headlight & timers...

Okay.. enough of my sulking. Basically, they are trying to say my car was only worth $6000 even though NADI says between $7500 and $9200. I've been looking everywhere for a 1997 Blue, Black (or green if the others aren't available) Tbird with the same options as mine. I have had 0 luck. The only one I found was sold and the asking price was $11,900. I really just want to replace my car.. and I'm thinking that if I find one that is similar to mine, they will have to give me enough to replace mine without out-of-pocket expense on my part.

I've looked at yahoo classifieds for all of FL, Autonation.com, and Autotrader.com and I can't find any matches. Aren't there any sites that have like 10,000 tbirds that can present them to me like in the matrix-style commercial?

Hopefully you can get more than that sad amount of money out of them. I know that you can; if it's worth more by the books they have to pony it up. Don't take no for an answer! In birmingham this and this are available in the price range. Course they're only V6s 🙁

ever consider hitting up a salvage yard for parts and getting a body shop to do the work for you? just a thought, couldnt tell too good by the dark pics how bad it was

My dad had a good idea of telling them to fix it...

Then, get it assessed after it has been fixed and make the insurance company pay the difference in value for the car.

The repairs on my car cost something like $6000 - $7000.

Skoorb, thanks for looking!

Do a nation wide search for T-Birds one year older to 2 years newwer with the V8. Take the top 10 to the insurance and ask them to prove your car is not morth at LEAST as much as the ones you find.

And have you been to the Doctor yet? If so what have they said?

My doctor said I have whiplash. He had me also get a spinal x-ray. He told me that I could heal in a week or have pain for life. He said it is hard to say.

The last year the Tbird was made was 1997 and I think 1996 tbirds had a different hood/body style. That's why I really want a 1997. (The new Tbird started again in 2002)

I wouldn't mind having a 2002 Tbird, though. 😉
