Car Battery Cable

I was trying to give my friend's car a jump start yesterday, however when I popped the hood of the car I noticed the car had a battery with side terminals. I noticed the positive terminal of the battery was covered with a cap. The problem is I don't know how to remove the cap. I tried twisting it in both directions and pulling to remove it, so I can expose the terminal, but it didn't budge. I didn't want to force it, as it isn't my car.

You just pull it off like a cap to anything, no twisting.
