Clarion HU's.
Sundown Audio subs/Amp
Hertz mille components

Can be had at good prices depending where you look. You get the most performance and quality for cheaper prices if you look at the underground car audio gear. Mainstream audio gear like Alpine/JL/RF/Kicker...etc are all waayyy overpriced with poorer quality. The kicker L7's for example use a weak motor that's 3 times more expensive than a DD sub at half the cost for example.

If you're in the Bay Area, go to Simplicity in Sound in Milpitas.

LOL I actually do live int eh Bay Area, I live in Fremont actually. Funny thing is I was actually reading their yelp reviews. Have you been there or used them for installations? They arent open on weekends which is a problem for me as I work a m-f job and leaves me no time to go to their shop.

I had my G35 done by him before he opened that shop. It's the second 2005 G35 in their SQ gallery. Won a few SQ competitions with it. Bing does awesome work. My install wasn't cheap as I had a bit of work done and the equipment was mostly near the higher end though. Just send them an e-mail with your budget to see if they could work with it. Doesn't hurt!

So I probably shouldn't or dont need to replace it at all then? I always thought getting a head unit is alot better than using the stock head unit.

I know that Morel stuff is expensive so of course I would love to get some if I can but other stuff that may be comparable to morel would be ok, I like Hertz so I wouldnt mind getting Hertz speakers again.

What would be the best plan to go about upgrading the audio system?

Just look at the dash... where are you going to physically put it? Assuming you even could manage to integrate te aftermarket piece somehow.

You need something like a JL cleansweep or other similar piece to take the factory line level signal, de-eq it, and then feed that signal to your new amps and speakers.

Seriously, go read that PDF posted earlier. 1500 bucks is not going to get this done unless you know how to do the work yourself, and even then that's a tiny budget.
