well, ive decided on which new sub im getting, and i would like to throw about 2-2.5kw of power to it.

now i just need to find an amp.

i have <500 to pay for it however id like it to put out the power at 1 ohm.
i know a few on here know car audio stuff, just need to get some reccomendations.

Because he has four 4 ohm subs that will be a 1 ohm mono load when wired in parralel? The current speakers are listed in his sig. Hrmm?

How do you like those Elemental Designs subs? I was thinking about picking up one myself for my wagon...

at 1 ohm the signial is amazingly clear. you can tell the diff from a normal 4ohm signal

i have heard stuff at 2ohms and its awsome

what sub you gonna run at 1 ohm BTW? gotta be 1 hell of a sub to take 2000w at 1ohm
 
I don't think they make 1 ohm stable 2000watt amps. If they do, you're gonna pay through the arse for one. I'm looking around now.
 
Well I found one. I can't find a site with a price though. It's going to be dough because you're looking at competition audio. The one I found is a Cadence ZRS-10. 1ohms a 2500watts Class D mono block.

Better get a high output alternator and another battery while you're at it. I've got a Cadence A5HC running a JL 12w4 at 1ohm and 600watts and that makes my lights dim when I crank it. This ZRS-10 monster would probably explode my battery in my little Honda, lol. Are you seriously doing this? I'm thinking it's going to be loud enough to cause permanent hearing loss. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
 
brian, mine are for sale currently. i have 2 remaining.

i will be powering a http://www.dbmonkey.com DBM15D2 which is dual 2 ohm voice coils.

i think i have found the right amp for me. does some nice stuff. does 1200@ 4 ohm, and 2500 @ 1 ohm. (regulated powersupply) that way i dont kill myself while driving, yet i still can get the power up for competitions.

NL5, you forgot that the JBL crown seems to be a much better amp. 😀

You DO realize that's it's impossible to get 2Kw from an unmodified 12v car electrical system, right? Why do you think that competition vehicles have an entire floor/trunkfull of batteries, wired in parallel? It ain't for "long playing times."

tsunami 1100D, about 235 brand new. will put out 1100 watts @ one ohm.

not getting 2kw from a 12v system. hmm. doesnt that all depend upon the amperage put out by the battery?? i seem to think that if you pulled about 200 amps, you could EASILY surpass 2kw. but the amp im interested in pulls about 180.

and i believe the orion 2500D that i am looking at, used, i should be able to get for 500$ or so.

hmm, i also seem to remember team psi selling some amps on the fs/ft for about 330$ that gave off 1200 watts.

edit: also, a cars electrical system is not 12volts when running. it is normally up around 14.4 volts when running.

Argh. OK, I know you're not a newb. But you have to be reasonable on the demands you place on the electrical system. Plus, even though an amp is RATED for 1100 watts or whatever, that doesn't mean that is what you're gonna get. B/C an amp can't "output" w/o enough "input" i.e. available juice.
 
my car keeps up 14.4 volts with my current setup unless im at idle, then it drops down to about 12.8 volts. but thats cuz my idle is at 500 rpm's and i have a lot of other things running. in fact, it drops below 14 volts, w/o my system in when im idle, i dont think my alt can handle putting out any power at 500 rpm.

i should be upgrading my wires in my engine compartment soon, to 1/0 ga. as i have some left over from running wire to my amp.

Most decent companies actually rate the amps very close their power output. Getting overrated amps with BS power figures is something you only have to worry about when you are buying low end gear.
