I just got my car, and I'm really anxious to start building a system for it. I've pretty much decided on the Sony Mobile ES CDX-C8050X head unit.

Now I'm a litle unsure on the front speakers. I've been told its best to get a good set of component speakers, but I'm not sure. Components have a little sub for bass, a midrange speaer, and a little 1" tweeter for highs, is this correct? And in the pics I've seen of them, the tweeter is completely seperate from the speaker itself. Can you not get components with the tweeter built into the unit? where do you put the tweeter?

As for the rear speakers (only have the stock 4 speaker setup), I was going to get 2 ways. Are these highs and mids or lows and mids or what?

components come with crossovers, right? that will filter the frequencies to the correct range speaker in the component?

I want 3 10's in my setup. I want more bass than humanly necessary, enough to give me bruises in the back from hitting so hard. Okay, thats a little sarcastic, but I want it to HIT. but.. I dont want to spend $10 million on this thing, so please dont tell me to get 6 $900 12's or something. I've heard systems with 2 10's, and it wasn't really enough, and 4 10's will really require 2 amps which I can't really afford.

I think I'd like Kenwood dB+ 10's, I've heard them in my friends system and they're WAY louder than the Pioneer's he had in there with the same amp (blew those speakers). I'd like 3 of them, but they don't exactly make 3 channel amps.
BUT I've seen examples on the web of MANY systems with 3-sup systems with 1 amp pushing them, so I know thats what I really want. But.. what amp to get?

here are the specs on the eXcelon dB+ 10's :

frequency response 25-600 Hz
power range 50-200 watts RMS
peak power handling 800 watts

What amp will push 3 without problems, and give them plenty of watts to hit nice and hard?

Also.. I know this isn't the best place for audio questions. Where is a good popular car audio forum? One with plenty of members and activity, so my questions will hopefully get answered.

thanks

Sorry man. I'm too tired to link em all. Copy, and paste will have to do. :)

I'm also way too tired to go into detail, but you need to do a LOT more research, before you buy. I hope this helps. Please adhere to the advice given on CAR AUDIO FORUMS, and not computer ones. They won't steer you the wrong way man. I would go with Elite car audio myself. I've learned quite a lot there.

Good luck man. :)
