I have a 1988 Honda Accord LX-i Sedan and Crutchfield says that both 5.25's and 6.5's will both fit in the doors. My question is which one would fit the best?
Would 6.5's fit easily in the doors?
Also I will be adding some more power to these in the near future, so would the 6.5's be able to handle more or sound better with a little more power?

I know that they will fit, I guess that what I am asking is would it be worth spending the extra to put 6.5's in?

Normally, yes it is. :) Best to do components though.. It's the only way I go.

if at all possible, go with the 6.5's---the larger speaker generally has better bass response(and better power handling) and will help anchor the sound in the front of the car

i've always had problems putting in 6.5 in hondas. the width is not a problem it is the depth of the speaker...inteferes with the window (polk, quart, monsoon). Really depends on what kind of 6.5s your looking at.

ouch, just saw 1988. could be problems. check with your local installer.

are 6.5s worth it? well most certainly yes, no question, without a doubt, YES!!!! once you push those deep mid-bass up front you'll be in heaven.

The stock speakers are 6.5's so most 6.5's will fit that car. You won't have a problem unless the magnet is super sized.

EDIT: It absolutely is worth it.

any good 6.5 is going to be too deep. you might be able to force it in there but it aint gonna be pretty.

best advice? check with local installer or buy a good pair and try to install. if it is too deep then return them. If you're into stereos then start building a good relationship with a local retailer of good quality.

<---installer for 3+ years (WAY back)

According to the Crutchfield catalog, you can go up to 2 1/8" deep in the front doors. An excellent choice would be the Kenwood eXcelon KFC-Xr600's or the new Infinity 652i's
