I have 3 issues with researching for a Head Unit and I'm struggling to find much info. Hoping some of you might know.

1. Full onscreen Android integration. I would like to be able to hook up my Galaxy S3 to the screen and control my phone from the unit.

Noticed the apps are limited and not many head units support it

Almost seems like manufactures don't want to apply this because they know it will make their costly option obsolete. GPS and Bluetooth options run $100+ for EACH on these units (little ridicules if you ask me).

Possible solution: This is part solution (really). Micro USB> HDMI cable for Galaxy S connected to HDMI > Analog converter > head unit for sound and video onscreen. No touchscreen option here so I would have to continue to control everything thru the phone. It will allow phone content to be shown on monitors though (netflix etc).

2. Dual Zone. I need to be able to control front output and Rear (for movies) seperately. Noticed VERY few units have this and there is very little info about limitation of it. Can I put ANY source on Either Rear and Front or does it limit me?

3. There is absolutely 0 HD support on new Head units. Forget about 720/1080p....From head unit perspective and monitor. Also noticed lack of quality overhead monitor (all no brand models).

Hope that's on the horizon. Weird that it hasn't really been implemented yet....

TIA

On this note, for the life of me I'll never know why seemingly all OEM navi's i've used will only pull email/sms from Blackberry OS.

i gave up waiting for this and just use a nexus 7 mounted in my car now.

i use paranoid android to make the UI larger across all apps, and I use the gmd gesture app to do 3 finger swipes for switching between navi/music. works great.

of course, that won't do any sort of dual zone control or anything. and it's not perfectly integrated into the dash as i'd like...working on that last part though.

I'm thinking about mounting my laptop. It has a DVD Player and high res monitor.

Will 3.5mm to RCA be ok to the amp? I will hook up all speakers to the amp.

Heck maybe leave Clarion up front hooked up to front speakers with USB music (that's all I need up front).

And rears will be hooked up to Laptop/Smartphone.

Hmm....

Researching Laptop mounts. Wonder if I can mount it upside down on the ceiling....
