Heya..

Recently I started getting into this mp3car sickness I decided I didn't want my finished product to be any louder than my stock Infinity Gold system that came in my jeep. Well as it turns out, the line output from the computer isn't enough for the stock amp, so I am looking for a replacement. I don't want anything big, as I am only going to be driving:

2- JL Audio SE-40T Tweets (up front)
2- 6x9" Infinity woofers (Front Doors)
2- 6.5" Infinity full-range (Rear Doors)

The amp is currently a Infinity (180w) but it doesnt digging the low-level output that I am feeding it. I would say that my stereo is 30% as loud as it used to be..

I would like to keep the cost down, and the amp must be available from crutchfield, because I have a gift cert from them.

Edit
In case anyone is interested, here are some

How much are you looking to spend (IE - how big is the gift certificate)? Also, what are the specs of the speakers (power handling, that is)? I'll try to find ya a decent 6-channel amp if you'd like.

You're gonna have some crazy ass imaging with full range 6x9s and a pair of tweets up front. Just look for a decent 6 channel amp pushing at least 50 watts per channel at 4 ohms.

Try here here for an Infinity 6-channel amp. Only problem I foresee is overpowering whatever you slap onto the two rear channels. $339 at crutchfield.

Then again, I believe I'd just skip all that, drop in a nice set of components in the front, a pair of Adire Shivas or RE SX's in the trunk, and enjoy :D On the other hand (christ how many hands does that make now?), you've already got what you've got and I certainly wouldn't just ditch it and blow more money...Good luck to you :)

wow, that's a damn nice amp for the price!
i would be hard pressed to mess around w/ a stock stereo system like that, it was made for your car, so if you're going to be messing, you need to redo it almost completely to get any better sound in my finding

Pretty good-looking amp, though I like the specs of the JBL GTO 6-channel a bit better (more power :D). I'd also not buy this from Crutchfield, though the OP does have a GC for them. My recommendation, if one were to buy this amp, would be to browse to SoundDomain.com, fill out their 105% pricematch guarantee form, and get that amp for around $275 + S/H. Just ordered a new head unit from SoundDomain, good prices, worked with me on a pricematch (the pricematch didn't meet all their criteria so they could've just dismissed it, however, they still gave me almost 40 dollars off the price), and were very helpful with questions I had. My only beef was that they shipped via FedEx (FedEx around here is rather...crappy...).

EDIT: Forgot to link to the PriceGrabber site listing a drastically cheaper price - you'll need it if you'd like to do the 105% thingie with SoundDomain - http://ecoustics.pricegrabber....d.php/masterid=2860514">LINK</a>

The only amps I see at Crutchfield worth considering are Infinity and MTX. Yes, I know MTX speakers blow, but their amps are good. Avoid Profile, Phoenix Gold, Sony, and Audiobahn. And unless your crossovers are low level crossovers meant specifically for biamping, you can use a 4 OR 6 channel amplifier. 6 would be better, yes.

6 definetely would be better, but considering the much greater cost, I wouldn't say it's worth it.

Uhh, if it sounded fine off the radio and your only concern is that it's too quiet off your soundcard then you just need an RCA line driver to bump up the voltage on the rcas.

Looking at this amp and it says it has "speaker-level inputs" does that mean low-level inputs? As in my sound from my computer would drive this ok?

There are usually 2 types of inputs... most use RCAs, but some have speaker input... so you can run speaker wire off a head unit without RCAs into it that way. RCAs is always the way to go. BTW Speaker-level inputs are also called high level inputs, where as RCAs are low level inputs.
