CAR AMP QUESTION :)

If the fuse on the power cable melts, then there should be no power going to the amp, yeah? What if there isnt a fuse there? Today, i looked under my friends car and the fuse wasnt there! But the amp was still powering the speakers!!! HOW???

So there was just a direct cable from the battery to the amp? If there's just a cable going from battery to amp, of course the amp will receive power

The fuse prevents energy from going to the amp in the event of a surge, it's not necessary to pass power on

Perhaps I'm not sure of what you're asking...

I opened her fuse holder next to the battery and the fuse was missing, yet, the amp still worked! I always thought that if the fuse was missing or blown, the amp would not be getting any power. I also noticed that her patch cables were routed to the back in parallel with the power cable. sh1tty job the installers did eh.....no wonder i hear engine noise.

Ok...then by all accounts, that doesn't make sense.

Are all of her speakers powered by amps? And are all the speakers working?

Perhaps she has some of her speakers hooked up to speaker outs from her deck in addition to the line levels going to her amp(s)...

all 4 speakers plus 2 tweeters are powered by the amp, i inspected myself. i even disconnected the speakers and turned on the stereo and nothing could be heard. ODD!

Hmmm...and what's connected to the battery? Car audio-wise...

Pull the cable from the battery, to determine if the amps are really getting power through that cable.

just the power cable to the amp with the empty fuse box next to the battery :(

so, you have 12volts jumping a 2 inch air gap? Thats an open ciruit if I ever saw one, and that cable should not have power on the other end to the amp.

thats what im saying!!! yet i read 12.6V from my voltmeter at the amp connections in the trunk! I think i'll trace the power cable from the trunk to the front of the car to see if it really does go to the battery, but from the looks at both ends, they are the same transparant blue cable though :(

What reading do you get on the amp side of the fuseholder?
