Yesterday evening I noticed that I could only open the locks on my newly acquired 2005 Mazda6 with the transmitter. The 'ARM' button wouldn't lock the car for anything. Fast forward to this morning, I was unloading my kayak from the top of the car about 70 miles away from my home at 6am in Monterey and the friggin alarm goes off. I pressed 'Disarm' many times to no avail. I put the key in the ignition and turned it to the 'on' position and pressed each button for 10sec each but nothing worked. In the end, I had to open the hood and pull off the battery cable since people were starting to stare.
I found the main box for the alarm and pulled the harness off. I plugged the battery terminal back on and the horn still blared. In the end, I had to pull the horn relay off to make it stop.
As of right now, even though the horn doesn't come on, anytime I open the door or start the car, the hazards blink as if the alarm is activated. Fortunately they time out after a few minutes.
Is my alarm hosed and should I buy a new one? The one in the car is made by 'Code Alarm'.
