Car advice?

Well my is broken and is very expensive to fix. I need a new used car and has to be under 4000. I can only have a domestic car since insurance is higher for foreign cars. I was looking for a coupe or sedan, maybe even an suv. 4wd or awd would be a plus but I could live without it. I don't really know where to start, and would like something like a colbalt or similar. Something not too big, neither too small. I am suppose to go to the dealer tmrw and look at some but just wanted to get an idea before hand.

You won't get a good AWD/4WD car for under $4K. Take a look at a used Chevy Cavalier.

Hmm well 4wd i guess isn't really needed, so iam guess a coupe or sedan. Nothing too big, something smaller than a stratus or similar.

I knw i may get a biased opinion but is chrysler and Gmc/chevy and ford. Are they about equal?

For 4k I won't suggest going to dealers because you will pay their marked up price. Go with private party for best deal. Dealers are good when you want a new/CPO/relatively new car.

Check out dodge stratus, chevy malibu, Olds alero. They should come under your budget with about 75-80k miles.

I'd probably go GM > Ford > DCX

A used Ford Focus is a pretty good deal. I think it was only the first year that really had any issues (electrical, if I'm not mistaken).

lol my explorer has major electrical issues and is over 1000 to repair, I don't think its worth it since its old and not very much reliable anymore.

Well that's dumb because civics, camrys, carollas, etc... are as common now as comparable domestics used to be. I doubt they're any more expensive. You might consider shopping around for other insurance as well.
