what is the average cost to fix a car a/c...i know it depends what kind of car and what is wrong with the a/c...say the compressor is screwed up and im driving a 1997 chevy lumina
 
i know a guy that will look at stuff for free to tell you what the prob is...i live in a small town so people are easier to deal with in a way

and if its the compressor, depending on model, it will be around $200-$300 and coolant should be $20. If you dont want to spend the money for the mechanic to inject the coolant, it costs another $30-$50 to get the proper equipment. But ya it will probably cost $100 in labor to work on/replace a compressor

There are a lot of big "fvcking" chain shops that do an A/C diagnostic for less than $30 dollars.
