Caputure Screen During Install?

Is there a way to capture screen shots during the Debian install process (short of a regular camera)? I'm thinking something along the lines of making a guide for putting Debian on a laptop since I've been having so much trouble lately with this and I can't seem to find any specific documentation. I'm sure no one would object to the test laptop being an Alienware Area-51M. Any ideas? Thanks...

Ghmm, I don't think it's possible while you're in text mode (more than that Debian uses framebuffer now by default). And if you're in XFree install is almost over :)
(Maybe TV-out is on by default? You could use two systems to capture process (other with tv-tuner/capture card)).

The only way to do it without a camera is to do the install in VMWare (been there, done that).

VMWare looks very promising. Is it possible to have a Windows host and load Debian using it? Can you cross file systems like that? Thanks!

VMWare virtualizes everything, including the hard disk (which uses a file of your specified size on your hard disk to represent a "real" hard disk to the system running therein). Unless you use some very advanced options, the system running under VMWare is totally isolated from the "host" system. Thus, you can run QNX, Linux, *BSD, etc. on Windows, and vice versa on Linux.

Hmmm... There's a beta version available - 4.0 I think. Maybe it's worth a try. Do you (jliechy) have experience using VMWare? Anyone else who reads this?

I have used VMWare 3.1 on Windows to run OpenBSD, NetBSD, Debian Linux, and Windows .NET Enterprise Server RC1. Unfortunately, I do not have any experience with VMWare on Linux. If you have any questions, feel free to ask either here or through PM (through PM is a better way of guaranteeing a reply, if your question is urgent). :)
