Hopefully this does not sound stupid, but the card comes with NO instructions on how to conenct the VIVO cables.

Anyway, there are 2 sets of video cables (RCA and S-VHS), one set YELLOW one BLACK.

Which is video in and video out? I would prefer not guessing and damage the card somehow.

Also, am I correct:

To capture sound along with the video, I would connect the Video out of a VCR to one of the Video connectors on the VIVO cable, and the Audio out of the VCR to the Audio in of my sound card?

And to record the video I create onto a VCR, I would basically do the opposite?

Thanks!

Mitch

ps: This was easier on my Matrox G400-TV breakout box...it was all nicely labeled.

RCA video cable is a yellow connector. It's a commom way to input video from a VCR or export video to the VCR.
S-video is just a slightly better connection method that may give better image quality but some VCR's don't have this connector.
I've got the MSI GF2 VIVO and the card has one RCA in , one S-video in, and one S-video out. Ther are labled on the backplate as S in and S out. Connect the RCA in to the RCA out on the video recorder. You can now capture video from the recorder. For audio you need a convertor that changes the VCR RCA (red) and (white) connectors to the stero miniplug that goes in the line in port on the soundcard. To export captured or edited video from the computer to the VCR you will need a S-video to (yellow) RCA convertor as the VIVO card only outputs S-video. Audio out to the VCR might be more difficult as you need to convert the mini plug sound out to RCA and hope that the VCR will "hear" it. I use a Santa Cruz with the versa jack that works well for additional audio out as you can keep the system speakers connected.
