wtf is up with you people giving him advice to shoot other people's pets... ?!
Sadly irresponsible pet owners sometimes leave other homeowners with little or no other options. Talk to the idiots who leave their pets to roam the neighborhood. I have been in this situation many times and each time Animal Control told me they could do nothing about cats so I had to take care of the problem on my own. I rebuild classic cars and nothing pisses me off more than to have cats walking on them....IN MY GARAGE....and I have had them use my cars and front flower beds for litter boxes. I will admit that I have shot several cats over the years but I had no other options at the time. I now have a livetrap and that is my weapon of choice. Once caught I give the trap and animal to my friend who works for a nearby town and he drops them off at the pound to be humanely euthanized.
I am an animal lover also and have very many pets, but I am responsible. I don't like killing animals if I don't have to but if left no other solution to the problem I will do what I have to do.....but these days I strongly suggest the LIVE TRAP option first and only resort to shooting/killing the animal if they refuse to enter the trap.
Animal cruelty can be felony (IIRC the article said federal). See the WalMart case where the employees were shooting a cat to get it off the property with a BB gun. They are/were facing (I don't think those charges will hold, but still!!!)felonies.Originally posted by: Citrix

my town is fricken overrun with wild/stray cats its a huge problem. Many of my neighbors have resorted to measures to deal with the problem that would definaly piss a lot of people off.

Hose idea noted... Don't know that it will work for me with it being middle of the winter, but noted nonetheless.

Yeah those stupid cats should KNOW they're not suppose to be in your yard. Next time, go up to one and tell him to stay out of your yard, hopefully he'll listen.

So since humans know they're not supposed to be in my yard, it's ok to shoot them?Originally posted by: clamum

Another thought. I believe that with a small game hunting liscence all would be perfectly legal with a bow and arrow or preferably a slingshot. It's on your property and hunting has never been considered cruelty to animals by any court that I have heard of. I don't believe there is a bag limit on cats either.![]()
That isn't going to work unless you live in the country and I don't condone the use of a bow and arrow because there is just too much room for wounding the animal. I do not want the animal to suffer and having an arrow stuck in it's side but still alive is horrible. Trap them as I stated earlier and let the pound euthanize them....it is humane and solves the problem.

Not going to be shooting 'em, just like the post said before, since it is definitely AGAINST the law in my area. Even BB/Pellet guns are illegal. I can't technically put out poison, but what if I had a dish of milk or something rigged up to the 220V line? lol Just a joke. And PROOF that cats get on cars, for those who doubt:

making a clean kill on any animal is not crulety. what those asses did at walmart was shoot a cat numerous times over many days until it died, they deserved the charge.
