Hi, I am new where so I think I am posting this in the right forum. If I am not then please feel free to move it,so here goes:

I am thinking about buying a capture card for my computer so I can record good quality videos to send on MSN etc.

I know virtually nothing about these cards and where to buy etc. so I was hoping you guys could help me.I could trawl through Google and suchlike but you guys are excellent at giving info so I thought I would ask here.

Does all capture cards record videos? Or is there a special type I should buy?

It would also make sense that I could do with some good video editing software ,what software package did you use?

Thanks guys.

First Welcome to AnandTech

i like the cards from Leadtek because they come with the software to record and create movies and dvds.

look here

They all do the job and come with software.

i don't think any cards come with all the cables that are needed for all posible setups but you can see everything that comes with them by cliking on the pictures.

between the cards and the cameras i have iv'e never needed any other cables or adaptors.

i don't think i would buy from that site.
