It doesn't. The action of photographing themselves in the middle of a memorial service, however, is in very poor taste.

They completely ignored someone at the podium honoring Mandela, in favor of having their own private party for three.

How could you possibly know that unless you had attended the event yourself? You're inventing facts so that the picture shows what you want it to show; these people were acting like drunken buffoons at a somber event, snapping selfies and laughing while someone eulogized a great leader. The lack of respect is staggering! Or maybe they were smiling because everyone else in the stadium was smiling and laughing as well; maybe no one was at the podium when they snapped this shot. You don't actually have that information, you're just speculating based on what you want to believe. Eyewitness testimony disagrees with your speculation, but don't let that get in the way of being offended.

Who else in those specific photos was smiling or laughing? No one - not even the First Lady. But don't let that get in the way of being offended.
