Captcha error?

What in the serious *F* is going on? I'm getting captchas with every damned page opening, refresh, etc., etc. Had to do a captcha to create this thread. What the hell?
My current theory is the new owners want to drive site traffic to zero so they can show a net loss for the year. The only other possibility I can think of is an act of such stunning incompetence that I refuse to accept it as possible.

Edit: It appears that someone has shut the damn thing off.

This just stated happening to me on "EVERY" redacted link I click on. Who implemented this garbage?
Feel free to ban me for use of profanites. This site is now unusable.

We understand people's frustrations with this,
however you must express the frustration here
without the use of profanity.

After making my post yesterday the situation has gone away, however, browsing this thread I see others are now being attacked by the rogue bot detector.

Are people being white listed after complaining or is the bot detector just having a nervous breakdown.

Yeah, I'm getting a ReCaptcha verification on every page load now. This is total BS, guys.
Oh, wait, it might get worse, you might get into the photo verification phase, you'll be asked to tic boxes matching a reference and then do it again, and again.

I had this problem maybe 6-7 hours ago. It's gone now . . . hopefully, for good.

The ReCapchas kept getting more extensive as I completed them as well. Click on all the busses! Oh no, you got it wrong (huh?), now click on all the sidewalks! Over and over and over again.

Now I get the captcha for every click (such as when I open a sub-forum, open a thread, next page, mark forums read).

This is getting super annoying. Every single page on this forum opens up that captcha garbage, then I have to go click which picture has a bridge or a traffic light or whatever other pointless task it asks for. I use to get this maybe once a day but god, now every time I click on the next page in a thread. Wonder if I'll have to go to the captcha page just to make this post.

Still happens frequently on my iPad IOS 13.3, Firefox 21. I get 'file not found' error and I’m stuck until I can get to a computer. And select the correct pictures.

Thank you for adjustments made. Not nagging me since.

Thank the clouds above I didn't have the "pick three street signs out of this pic." Only had the robot check box.

Chrome on Win 10 BTW.

Here it goes again! ReCapcha on every link clicked. Though this time I only had to click on stupid pictures one time. Not sure how long I'll be able to tolerate this tonight.

MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!

edit: the system should NOT force you to verify that you are "not a robot" more than once. Your system is BROKEN. Fix it!

edit edit: now I'm getting the pictures. Your system is designed to ramp up difficulty as the "suspicious" user continues using the forum. What are you doing?

Maybe the singularity already happened, and this is there way of driving away the last remaining humans from congregating?

Anyways, when that started happening to me (captcha at every click), I immediately went to my Firefox Nightly, Tools, Options, Privacy, Manage Data, and typed in "anand", and cleared all of my info for the forums. I then went to the home page, re-loaded, and re-logged in. No more captchas. This may only work on Firefox.

What data does that delete? Cookies( maybe?) but what else?
When it happened to me the other night i tried logging out but that didn't work. Didn't think to clear cookies. Cache is deleted when FF closes, which i did also.

To be honest, i doubt anything any of us do on our end is doing anything helpful. It seems the problems come-and-go for no apparent reason. I might be good for a few days, week, month(s) then it might happen again.

There's 2 threads on this going on now so it makes it harder to keep track but if anyone reads thru both you'll see it's been an on-and-off problem for most everyone that's posted about the problem.

No official response from anyone since May on this problem. Forum admins don't count & some of them are dealing with this too.

This issue could be related, in a way, to the "cookie bloat" issue that the prior gen of forum software had. If you were a long-term user, and visited every day, one or more of your cookies would keep increasing in size, until it became too long for either the browser or the forum software to properly process it, and then you would have login/connection failures.

I wonder, if instead of login/connection failures, that is triggering the captcha-every-click mode, because there is something "wrong" with the login cookies/credentials presented to the site's forum software.

I just remembered that happening, and cleared out everything to do with the forum site and the main site, and then re-loaded the forums, and then re-logged in, and it was "fixed". For now, at least.
