Captain Power

A friend and I were talking about the Nintendo Light Gun and how it worked, and we started talking about Captain Power ... I vaguely remember the show and it's use of a little ship to interact with the video .... I was wondering if anyone had anymore information and or links to websites ... how did they do this kind of stuff. From what i can recall you could shoot at the TV and sometimes it shot back at you ... pretty amazing even by todays technology standards.

lukatmyshu, I thought it was cool because at the time, the only thing that used the same technology was the original NES 🙂

Man Captain power was the shiz! I had that ship with the video. Boy that brings back memories....

I think Capt. Power was a little different from nintendo as the ships weren't connected to the TV in any way. All of the interactive targets were this odd day-glow reddish pink color. My brother and I had them and recorded several episodes on vhs. It was pretty fun, but was way too easy to "win". You could play through an entire episode and only get hit one or two times, I think it started you out with 10 points so you were never anywhere near dying.
The only time anyone ever got ejected is when we played each other, but that was silly too as you both had to be head on to score a hit.
