Unlike the grounds surrounding the Capitol, which historically have been the site of
numerous demonstrations, there has been a ban on demonstrations inside the Capitol since 1946 when
Congress decreed: ?It shall be unlawful for any person or group of persons willfully and knowingly -- .
. . to parade, demonstrate, or picket within any of the Capitol Buildings.? 40 U.S.C. § 193f(b)(7). The
United States Capitol Police are responsible for enforcing this ban. 40 U.S.C. § 212a. Believing that
the Capitol Police needed guidance in determining what behavior constitutes a ?demonstration,? the
United States Capitol Police Board issued a regulation that interprets ?demonstration activity? to
include:
parading, picketing, speechmaking, holding vigils, sit-ins, or other
expressive conduct that convey a message supporting or opposing a
point of view or has the intent, effect or propensity to attract a crowd of
onlookers,
but does not include merely wearing Tee shirts, buttons or
other similar articles of apparel that convey a message.

dude you just got the other thread locked so why repeat your post here?

it was her intent that got her taken out of the building, not just the fact she was wearing a t-shirt. when questioned about it by officials she would not even speak to them.

So shutup.

Why should she? She wasn't breaking any Capitol building rules. Plus, I don't believe the CHP's account of what happened, because Rep. Young doesn't believe them either.

Heh, couldn't care less about Pat Robertson. This about Cindy Sheehan being arrested at the capitol also the fact that she is considering running against Sen Feinstein. If so, so be it.

Free speech FTW!

Is not absolute.

How appropriate! I have seen many such cases of hypocrisy on P&N. I will ask you a simple question (the type which Islam-haters use often for their own arguments). Give me a straight answer.

Is there freedom of speech in America? Is Cindy Sheehan correct in excercising her right of freedom of expression/speech and protesting? (Yes/No)

There is no in between or not sure in this question. Both questions are answered with any one option. It is your choice to decide which.

You do know there is an option for you if you don't agree? You excercise your freedom; don't listen to her and get out of the discussion.

Edit: She might have done something illegal and is rightfully punishable under law for it. However, you cannot start bashing her for just excercising her rights!

1. Was wearing a Tshirt illegal?
2. Is choosing not to talk to a person illegal?

You, zendari and your ilk are pathetic. Its not enough to merely demonize and insult those who disagree with you, now you're defending people getting arested despite them not breaking the law.

You would not believe how glad I am that there are very few people like you here.

I don't...Sheehan's antics only fire up the conservative base, and continue to enable Republican dominance...she is not a lightning rod for the opposition but rather the status quo.
