Yep. The first seller didn't know what he had, and didn't list it properly.

This happens with antiques all the time. That's why a great many valuable antiques are often found at yard sales for a tiny fraction of what they are worth.

I used to make tons of money by buying items that were popular on ebay for cheap, then listing with a fixed price and waiting for some idiot to buy it.

In fact, if I had nothing to do but watch ebay all day I could probably pull 3-4k just buying items off ebay and reselling them. In many instances I wouldn't even have to see the merchandise...

A friend's sister buys antiques at local stores, garage sales, et cetera, then sells them via eBay. She bought a set of three fountain pens and a holder, and was able to recoup the cost of the entire purchase by selling one pen by itself. I believe she sold the other pen and the holder too, then kept the third pen.

this lesson isn't any different from what we've all learned as kids.....trading a michael jordan rookie card for 2 cookies and a pack of gum! lol. I'd say it happens all the time.
