I'm bored today, so I'm making polls. :) So, all of you fighting game fans out there, which company is better? Personally I like the ol' standby Capcom characters better, so I vote for Capcom.

Definitely Capcom.

SNK has some characters that are just like Capcom; they're old and stiffly animated though.

The only SNK characters that are good are the Samurai Showdown characters. IMO

You guys have to be kidding me! I've been playing fighting games like a mamdman since street fighter II, (which I blame my brother for) and have never touched the SF series when I started playing KoF, beginning with '95 . . ..

The 'Super bar' was invented by SNK
The dodge/roll move was invented by SNK

They actually have the balls to change the design (and even gameplay) of the franchises' main characters once in a while (Kyo in KoF'99, Terry in Garou), unlike Ryu or Ken . . ..

And for further proof that SNK characters kick ass, I submit to you: (from the KoF series) - K' - his moves are more innovative than anything from teh Capcom side . . ..

Capcom characters are too bland, IMO. Obviously, I favor the SNK side.

BTW, if you think SNK games are stiffly animated, play Garou: Mark of The Wolves or Last Blade 2 . . ..

The only reason I'm thinking about this is that I'm addicted to Capcom vs. SNK 2 - Millionare Fighting. I have been realllllly addicted to this game for the last week. I'm always some combo of Morrigan and the Samurai Showdown characters. But I just like the Capcom ones better, I played those games more since I was younger.

I still prefer Capcom. You have a good arguement, though.

Fixed link.

And yes. No, HELL YES I have seen SNK vs. Capcom - doubt it'll show up on my neck of the woods . . ..

FYI: Changes I mentioned for Kyo, The (Ex-) Main Character for the KoF series;

KoF '94 -'95: He was the standard 'hero character', with a projectile, anti-air, rush, etc.
KoF '96 - ??: Major overhauls for many characters, espceially for Kyo - instead of his projectile, he had a special rush move with built-in cancels so he can counter others' projectiles - a MAJOR difference.
KoF '99 - ??: No longer the main chracter for the KoF series, gameplay has been slightly tweaked, his rush-in move has been changed, and his design has been overhauled: Before and After.

I'd say capcom makes the better fighting games, but SNK makes better characters and games overall. The SNK characters are a lot tougher to use than most capcom characters, but they're funner to use.

Like for Capcom Vs. SNK the game, you can EASILY use most of the Capcom characters pretty well but if you want a bit of a challenge and fun, the SNK characters are where it's at. Though I'd have to say using Dan (and winning) is a real challenge......

I like SNK's character designs and variety of moves better, thier moves are usually quite a bit tougher than what Capcom's moves are (ie: 2xQCF+P vs. QCF+P). But for fighters, Sammy/Arc System Works has me sold on the Guilty Gear series.

For the record, I have:
Street Fighter 2 (SNES)
Street Fighter 2 Turbo (SNES)
Street Fighter 2 Turbo Revival (GBA)
Guilty Gear X (DC)
Guilty Gear X (GBA)
Guilty Gear X2 (PS2)
King of Fighters: Round 2 (NGPC)
Capcom vs. SNK (DC)
Capcom vs. SNK 2 (DC)
SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millenium (NGPC)
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (DC)

Capcom largely got raped when it came to setting the characters in MvC2. The "vs." game that I'd like to see is SNK vs. GG, they have similar move patterns and seem to move close enough to be good. MvC2 was just too much twitch and fly and not enough rythem to keep the SF2 feel.

And who here has played the original Street Fighter? Remember the damage those fireballs caused? :)

Capcom has the better fighting engine, but SNK's characters are far more stylish.

Bsically how it was set up was that Capcom and SNK, were to make their own crossover games. Capcom vs. SNK is from the Capcom side, and is out for DC/PS1/ARCADE. Capcom vs. SNK2 is out for ARCADE/DC(JPN)/PS2. Both those games mentioned are from Capcom, and hence, have the more Capcom-esue gameplay (combos, chains, priorities, etc.).

The new one that's coming out is being developed by SNK, called SNK vs. Capcom (see? Whoever's name is on first developed the game). It's out on the arcades soon, like next week, and is supposed to appear on PS2 sometime later.

BTW, I have SNK vs. Capcom:MotM for the NGPC - HA!
