Ok i am gonna jump ship from AMD to intel's canterwood board and plans to do RAID 0. SATA drives are too expensive and too small for my taste and thus I want to go with IDE 133 Raid using 2X MAxtor 120GB 8MB Buffer 7200 RPM drives. I heard that SATA raid on canterwood is SUPERIOR since it does not use the PCI bus for improved performance and latency. Does this apply to the IDE raid on the intel boards too? Or it is shared with the PCI bus? Thanks alot!

Which SATA drive is too small the Seagate 120Gb, the Maxtor 120Gb or the soon to be Western Digital 120Gb. It seems if you are willing to pay the price for a Canterwood over an 865 based board the extra $60 for the SATA drives would not be out of the question.

in canada, the 80 GB MAxtor SATA cost the same as the 120 GB IDE, so i dun think it is worth the money. I am doing digital video, need lots of space

Only time PCI bus has anything to do with IDE is when you use an IDE expansion card (in a PCI slot)...

*edit* Same goes for a PCI RAID Controller Card.
