Can't wash my face o_O

The last time I tried to wash my face regularly, it was a mass pimple breakout. I don't really know how this makes any sense, but since, I just use water. My face, overall, is fine. I get the occasional pimple/zit like most people my age, but I still want to start washing it daily, but without breaking out. Is there some "trick" I'm not in on?

I have a couple that I've tried and they don't seem to help. Maybe I just gotta bite the bullet and try again.

I use Clearasil and it seems to do the trick. Point is, if you use normal soap you just dry the skin out. Get something with a moisturizing component.

use a cheese grater instead!

your water may contain lots of dissolved minerals, which may be causing your face to break out. get oxy pads or something

You know, I think you've nailed it there. At one point I was using both soap and face-wash, which was probably a bad idea.

Might sound crazy, but if your face is sensitive to tap water, use distilled water. It isn't that much per gallon, and it might help.

Soap, Hot water. I don't really have a pimple problem, I recently had an outbreak of two semi big pimples on my chin, but I washed at them persistently with soap, they got swollen, then washed even more fanatically with even more hot water, and soap, and now they're shrinking. I think they had an outbreak because I was unconsciously stressed.

Try Dove's Gentle Exfoliating bar soap. I know it's not exactly manly, but a dermatologist told me to use it and it's worked great. Cleans very well and moisturizes at the same time. Not to mention that it smells good. 😛

I'm stressed 85% of the time. That might be part of the problem.

Yeah, because pimples break out due to stress. So here's what I recommend: Wash your face obviously, stress as little as possible. Take walks on the beach, park, observe birds, enjoy nature. Work, pace yourself. Take it easy, but be efficent. Is it hard..? Probably, I'm trying it.

I too am the same way, I never use soap to wash my face. I get the occational pimple but nothing outstanding. In the past when I did actually use bar soap it would dry my face out and would be worse. I guess the only thing I get is blackheads on my nose but I just pop those suckers and you can't really notice them 🙂.

Why would you use just water? You need to use something that will get rid of the oil. Use that orange generic soap without any moisturizers, etc. I used to get pimples a lot but I started doing that, and it helped a lot. That frou frou stuff they make to prevent pimples doesn't work because they all contain oil. You want your skin to be dry and clean

I like the comment about the tap water and distilled water. It is kind of true in some sense, but it's not strong enough of a support option if you want to really take care of your face, as long as the water is properly clean/treated you're fine.

It may not be the water entirely, but rather how hard you're pressing against your face. Don't press hard. It's like shaving, don't press, just run the blade and let it do it's job. When you use face wash, don't apply overly intense pressure that will cause your face to be pushed in too much, just rub gently evenly, but just a little bit more in spots that need a little bit of work.

I tell this to girls a lot, that your face is like a sheet of paper. Write on it too much, and there's going to be permanent damage on it where the eraser (water/fluid or make cleaning kits) must be more intense or won't erase all of the damage. Unless you have the money to pay for plastic surgery, and by all means in and of itself, it's not an easy process in the first place, don't do anything you know you may regret.

Bath morning and night. Don't use more than two types of face wash one after the other unless you're for sure you know the chemical reaction to your skin, because if the imbalance is too strong, your face will break into peices over the course of weeks and months.

If you really do care about your face all that much, consumer goods your basic Walmart may not be enough. Now you don't have to consult a doctor, buddy. There are websites that offer intensively advanced treatment solutions that doctors only know of. Study your own face, and try new things, but don't destroy. You gotta be proactive, and not reactive.

I'm not trying to give you any funny ideas, but think Hollywood. The stars have to be consistent with keeping their facial beauty in top notch healthiness. If you feel water isn't good enough, try face wipes.

Don't rub your nose, you'll get dirt on your face. Use soft tissue. Girls hands are usually more delicate, but that doesn't mean they're not as dirty as yours, if they want to touch your face, clean it afterwards. In the Marines, usually you're not allowed to touch your face, remember that much, stay clean.

Hair products, if any, avoid excessive usage and get "XYZ-free" stuff that keeps as much grease and facial tampering off of your to do list. Dairy products make you break out more than usual. Sleep scheuldes. Don't think that all soap is good, there are some types of soap that are meant for hands, and not the face, the strength of it could seriously dry out your face.

If your face is drying up, don't use regular lotion, apply facial lotion that fits your needs. Don't forget, it's how you dry your face. Use a clean towel, and hard tissue paper is fine, but wipe your face lightly if doing so. Every time you sweat, wash clean, through your air and around your ears and upper neck. Stress control; exercise is good, it releases toxins from your body into the sweat that will help eliminate the dirtiness, but wash often to make sure dirt doesn't come in contact with your pores, which will form blackheads.

Don't pop pimples or zits. They look awful and the red marks that are left behind may actually look better than the white or the light colors on your face, but leave it alone, they'll leave scars just like when you cut your hand, it bursts out blood and your skin tissue has to rebuild. Use clean razors when you shave, aftershave helps also.

Guys aren't meant to be pretty, so do what you have to and move on with your life. Unless you wanna be a pretty boy, good luck. Health is priority, so don't let other people dog on you, 'cuz they ain't you and they don't live your life, you do what you gotta do 'cuz you're number one.

I live in the American Gardens building on West 81st street. My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our life styles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

I was expecting crap..and actually enjoyed that movie...

*cues 80s tunes and puts the volume up to '11' *

All the crap made for cleaning faces always bugged my face, I just use bar soap (Irish Spring) in the shower with a wash cloth and that has seemed to work the best for me.

Try antibacterial soap to kill the little buggers that're causing your acne in the first place.

Also, get some "Acne Gel" from Walmart, says it's 10% Benzoyl Peroxide, the stuff is great for taking out zits when they're just beginning to form, as well as reducing the mature ones. Pop them and put that stuff on it, and it's definately not going to come back (unless you didn't really get all the crap out when you popped it).

And until you get it under control, wash your face at least twice a day, before bed and at lunch.

Be cautious with Benzoyl Peroxide, that stuff can OWN your face for the first few weeks.. good thing I don't need it anymore.. that stuff was just.. hell.
