How can a crt be thin.
The Electron gun that paints the pictures on the flurescent tube contradicts your claim/statement.
CRT Tvs can never be flat due to the electron gun design.

I would still buy only flat screen-LCD ,Plasma, etc. though -my confidence in *NEW* technologyOriginally posted by: 0roo0roo

yup. just imagine if plasma or lcd were the same thickness as the thin crtu wouldn't even bother with em because of their deficiencies. they only make up for their inferior picture with their size at the moment.
What kind of distortion are you talking about?Originally posted by: FreshPrince

translation for the not so smart...
lcd/plasma: thin, but poor picture quality, distortions bad for eyes
thin crt: same awesome picture quality as fat crt, less distortions means good for eyes

This is GREAT news for folks who HATE washed out gray in their dark scenes.

just a matter of time... and cost... I really want to see how these turn out.
No. LCD and plasma cannot reproduce true blacks, because it's impossible for those types to block out all light for black pixels. I think. CRTs don't have to excite the phosphors at all.Originally posted by: lnguyen
