Can't view saved pictures from IE

Buddy of mine is trying to save pictures/graphics from IE. He right clicks and saves it to his hard drive. But when he goes to view the picture, he get's an error. Window Fax and Picture will say "No preview available". He tries to view the picture in other programs and it gives him errors basically saying it cannot view it. He even emailed me one of the pictures he saved, and I am unable to view the picture as well.

However, if he downloads it (say from an email attachment), he's able to view the pictures. Any ideas?

Hi,
try opening with Paint , it's a BMP and you need to convert to a jpeg
so open with paint, photoshop ect... then save as a jpeg

Might try clearing IE cache too.

left click to select the file
hold down shift and right click on it, select "open with" (I dont think you have to hold down shift with XP),
and select appropriate picture viewing program.

No matter what program I try to open it with, the program spits out an error along the lines of cannot open this format, cannot parse this file. This would lead you to believe it's just a corrupt file, but all the pictures my friend downloads comes out like this...
