Can't upgrade firmware on Plextor burner

I have DMA off when I try to upgrade, could it be because I have the burner hooked up to my Maxtor ata 100 controller card?

read the entire thread...i wasn't able to upgrade my firmware either...but this is for a scsi cd-rom, not burner...but it might work for you...

personally, I'd do the firmware update with the drive on the m/board ide channel!

You will have to temporarily connect the unit on the Mobo IDE channel before you can flash your firmware. I think this was mentioned on Plextor's FAQ.

why do you have a cdrom connected to an ata100? is it better? don't these things run dma 33?

I had a problem updating my 12x plextor's firmware to 1.07 with the .exe file from the north american site. So downloaded the firmware updater program and the firmware binary file for my burner. Then I was able to update the firmware.
