Can't upgrade BIOS!!!

I have followed the installation procedure for upgrading the BIOS in my Gigabyte GV-R80T256V (Radeon X800 XT) but nothing is happening. I did a version check, and it reads that version RX80T8V.F1 is currently installed. I am trying to flash the RX80T8V.F2, hoping that it might cure a small problem I am having. Well, when I try and do this, I get a message reading that "this graphics card not supported," or "wrong card," or something like that. It is getting very annoying. In fact, this has been a very annoying night. :disgust: Any ideas?

A lot of flash utilities have an override control which allows it to flash regardless of any issues it believes it might have found. However, I don't recommend you try that. Sounds like the flash you have is looking for a different card. I'd just double check to make sure you have downloaded the correct BIOS for the card, or that giga-byte haven't linked the wrong flash file.

Ah this reminds me of the good ole days when I experimented with my 8500LE. I would download like 20 different bios for various differ cards ( 8500 non LE, 9000, 9100, & the 9200) Basically I was able to flash my card to a non LE 8500, 9000, & a 9100 but found that my card performed best as a non LE 8500. The process to find a working bios was trail & error. I would flash & sometimes I wouldn't get video. So I would stick in my PCI video card, boot off my trusty Win98 boot disk, & try another bios. I finally got it working & got the results I wanted. I was so proud of my self.

But yea if you don't know what you are doing & don't want to risk perm ruining your card I wouldn't mess with it. For me I didn't care if I ruined my 8500LE because it was still in warranty, I could always send it back if I couldn't find bios that worked.

Not another scammer........

Where has integrity gone these days?

Haha it wasn't my fault that ATI was trying to rip there customers off by selling us the same GPUs practically. Where?s the integrity in that? As noted, I successfully modded my bios & did not return the card. But if all the difference to a video card is different bios settings I will change those bios settings in a heartbeat. I don't believe scamming is proper word more like hacking. =)
