hi,

i am trying to uninstall need for speed 5, but i get an error saying a certain log file is possibly corrupted or missing. i noticed this kinda error messege before, but just didn't really give a crap and left the program installed. but now, i want it out for i am running low on HD space. other than reinstalling the program...is there another way i can get rid of it? do those uninstaller programs really work? i noticed there are a few freeware and shareware uninstallers on download.com. so...anyone ever used those programs before? and if so, do they really work when the windows installer fails?

Of course there is. Just find the folder and manually delete it.

yah very few games put files anywhere other than in their main folder, plus a few icons on desktop/startmenu.

Yah, reinstall the game.

Then, uninstall.

You will no longer see the thing in the add/remove menu and the game should be fully uninstalled by now.

oh and uninstallers generally have to be active when installing teh thing in the first place, and even then i wouldnt trust them (had one before, admittably quite a while ago so maybe theyve improved, but ive seen things like autoexec.bat listed as to be deleted!)

If you want to get that pesky title out of the add/removes program list use TWEAKUI and delete it

Yeah tweakui can remove the program from the list(but not uninstall it, if you do this you need to delete manually)

Yeah . . . manual zapping works, followed by manual registry scrubbing and manual Tweak.ui elimination from the Add/Remove menu. You can simplify the manual registry scrubbing by just running Norton Windoctor after zapping the files and rebooting.
