Go with a cheaper ATi card.. if she doesnt play games :)
Save a few dollars :p
Smack that woman around, tell her to get a diff CD-R
Spend a little more and get an Intel HaM or a USR modem

do you want to be her tech support for as long as you know her, especially if you don't like her too much. I will only build for family, that's it.

Everyone else is, "Dude you're getting a Dell!"

Ditto for that!!!

I will continue to build systems people who know what they are doing, but people that I know are high maintenance to begin with end up with me saying "Dude you're getting a Dell!"

Peakock and Sundog, you're absolutely right. Trust me, you don't want to be her tech support person. If she wont go with any burner other than a Yamaha, then she must not know squat about PCs. Tell her to go down to a local computer shop if she wants a custom built PC. Or better yet, tell her to build it herself. That is what I usually do. I tell them that I will assist them if they have any huge problems building it, and give them links to good hardware review sites so they can pick out all of their parts. Then I check their parts list and make sure that it is alright.
