can't switch workgroups in Windows XP Pro

I have a weird problem. I want to change my Windows XP Professional workgroup from Workgroup to my home lan's workgroup. However, I can't change it. I right-click on My Computer, hit Properties, click on the Computer Name tab, click the Change button to put in a different workgroup name, and it's grayed out. I can only change the computer name. Member of Domain/Workgroup is grayed out. Any ideas on how to change it and why it's like that? I've got another Windows XP computer sitting right next to me that lets me change the workgroup, but for some reason mine won't.

and just to clarify this computer is not currently a member of any domain right?

yup, I've got admin privilages. This is my main box. I actually just reinstalled XP the other day. This is just on my home lan. It's weird, I'm sure there's some setting I've overlooked.

Oh yeah, both domain and workgroup are grayed out.

Did you happen to "tweak" some services? Check to make sure the Computer Browser, Server, and Workstation services are all started. I can almost guarantee that's what it is.
