1) I can't stress enough.

2) I can't stress too much.

Which is correct?

I hear 1 in common usage more often, despite it not making as much sense- I can't stress as much as I should that X is true? That doesn't really make sense when you look at it based on the real meaning of the words. Taken literally, 2 sounds better. As in, no matter how much I stress this thing, it's not too much because this thing is so true.




Not a poll. I can't stress enough that I hate polls.

i bet you think that "i could care less" makes sense..

"I could care less" has a very obvious meaning, it means I care.

"I can't care enough" is less clear. Does it mean that I am caring as much as I can but it's not enough? Or does it mean I can't care "enough" because the thing isn't worth caring about at all?

It's a less obvious phrase.
 
lol the correct phrase is "I couldn't care less" ... it means you've reached the bottom plateau of caring, and there isn't any less you could care.


same with "i can't stress enough" ... it means you can stress and stress and stress, but there is not an upper limit of how much you could stress.
