Can't stop my heatsink from vibrating!

i have an alpha pal6035 with a ys tech fan. the thing vibrates like mad!

i tried putting 2 pieces of mousepad between the fan and the shroud, but it didnt' work.
btw, this only happens when the case is upright. when it is laid flat, there is no vibrating. i currently have a molex connector touching the fan to absorb the vibrations.

any suggestions?
thx in advance

Hrmm.. very odd,
All I can suggest is to take off the heatsink, double/triple check all the connections being made and how everything is attached, hopefully you'll find the loose part.

thx tharyn. that's actually a good idea. when i built the comp, it never made any of these sounds. but about a month later, i changed the cpu and fan.... and the vibrations have started after that :\

I bet you have lost a (broke) a fan blade on the fan. It can be kinda hard to see, especially if you have like an ORB where the HS is wrapped around the fan.

Being off balance, the fan "seem" like its vibrating, especially if it a High RPM one.

Check it....

I have the same exact problem with mine and it drives me nutz(no pun int), my solution( ihaven't tried yet) is to just get some rubber washers and place them at the head of the phillips screw end. The part that is rattling is the Shrod itself, its so aggrivating. I held my finger on it to figure out what it was but ironicly the noise of the fans themselves calm down, so i guess the tighter the fit, the less noise the fans make.

I had this problem once but when I held the board with two fingers it stopped, must not've screwed the board in tight enough.

<<buy a new fan and give the old cooler to your gf>>

HAHAHA 😀

get a new fan... somehow you bended or damaged the fan replacing- now it's twisted, and will never stop making noises...

thx everyone

actually, my first thought was the fan. so i replaced it with a brand new one. then it started vibrating AGAIN. so i replaced it with a third fan (i have lots lying around). still got the vibrations

i'm pretty sure that the clip is on tight. however, if i tightened the screws on the fan too much, the blades begin to hit the plastic. so i can't tightened it too tight.
