All my computer will do is just work in the background then nothing will happened. This is the #1 thing that pisses me off about Windows: its negligence toward some programs you click on. Any ideas? I have a LAN and I've shared some files before but now it's being queer.

Try reboot windows. If it doesn't help, I would guess some services were disabled. Go to control panel -> admistrative tools -> services and enable them.

Nah, didn't help. I got it working yesterday then I took my computer to a LAN, assigned myself an IP and subnet then after I was done, went home and it didn't work. It's either not working or it's taking a long time to start up. I compared the services from my Compaq to my computer and they're identical and unchanged so I don't believe that's the problem.

load netbeui and unbind file sharing from TCP/IP.

It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour for windows networking to settle down and get a stable "network neighborhood" or "my network places.
