I beg to differ, Quantex has very nice custom service and they made some nice machines. Too bad they went south, CyberMax closed down too(I think they merged with Quantex), they were the pioneer of AMD systems. Too great companies that I hate to see them go away.

quantex tech support wouldn't take back a defective monitor they sold me. Brand new monitor...the image was completely distorted and the mother fuc&er had the balls to tell me that I was being "too picky". Can you believe that sh!t? The dude didn't even see my monitor and he was telling me that I was PICKY???? Has a tech support guy ever in your life told you that you were too picky??? Didn't think so...

I just returned the monitor and bought a new one somewhere else.

well... i'm glad they are gone so no one else has to ever go through that crap.

If you don`t want to do a fresh clean install try this, put Windows OS CD in,open Windows explorer click on setup in the directory of the CD,& Windows should install itself over the top this may repair any damage it finds,Btw I `ve done this(Win98 os1) & it kept all my programs including DirectX.

Ark, my niece had the exact same problem on her computer. It's a virus downloaded through your email. Time to reformat and reinstall.

ArkAoss i hate to break this to you but update your virus software and run a Scan.....Im almost 100% sure you have the AOL Password Stealer Virus on your Machine. I see it all the time in the Service Center i work at and those are the exact symptoms. You need to update your Virus Software, then go to safe mode and run a scan and Quarentine and delte the files it comes up with as infected....then edit your startup to remove all the run= commands. Hope this Helps.

Actually, to chime in here, Quantex and Cybermax were both very very good companies until the last few weeks before they went belly up. Both of them were owned by a parent company based in NJ called Fountain Systems I think. Everything went belly up when Fountain Systems lost funding...

My friend has had great service from Quantex, replace almost half his computer right before his warranty was up. Which meant he got a lot better components for free.

It definetly sounds now like a virus or two anyway you last resort if everything else fails is to format & do a clean install,I hope what Viper22 said fixes the problem.

I also recommend a clean, totally clean install at this point. If the registry is messed up badly, it will be the only way to get the system back on track...otherwise you will keep importing the same screwed up settings and keys, and the problem won't go away. Just make sure you get rid of that virus completly, though, or you are wasting your time.
