Can't show video clips on tv.. help!

just tried the tv out function today, everything was fine except when i play any video, it shows normally on the monitor but totally blank on the tv, what program/driver do i need to fix this?
ati radeon 9600xt

Disable hardware overlay in your video player (assuming you can, WMP, VLC and most do support it) and try that way.

wow cool thanks man, i can't find hardware overlay but i just uncheck the "Use overlays" and now i can see videos in my tv. Thanks!
wat's overlay anyway?

Very simply, overlay surfaces are a way to use the graphics card's hardware to display the video with less CPU usage.

You can also switch the TV-out to be the "primary" monitor, and your video displays will then work correctly (although then you won't be able to watch them on your monitor unless you switch it back). Most graphics cards only have one overlay surface, and it is allocated to the 'primary' display.
