Can't set ringtones?

I have a new Nexus 5X phone. I downloaded Zedge like I always do. I select my ringtone and click set as default. Yet when I get calls its still the same system ringtones not my custom ones. I have tried like 10 different ringtones and a few different ringtone apps. All do the same thing. They say it has been set fine, but it doesn't work. What am I missing here??
