so I have these 2 little pocket print servers here that work fine for any of the "legacy" PCs that have been here since before Ive been here... however ANY PC I have built can NOT see these 2 print servers (and therefor the printers attached to them)....

Im lost. Correct work group etc. and can see everything else just fine and dandy.

These are some serioulsy cheap-ass little pocket-print servers that have no manufacturer name or model on them at all. They simply say "High Performance Print Server" on one side and CP-810, serial #, FCC complice etc on the back side.

What am missing here? Ive set up countless (nice name-brand) print servers before with no issues. I cant even find the IP of these things with network scans

Anything strange when you check the properties of the printer on a working PC and look at the various settings for ports and such? And are the items really print servers or just network adaptors to change a parallel printer into a network printer? You could just add the printer by using the straight IP address (if you can find it on some other computer's settings).

Otherwise I'm not sure.

Well Im guessing they are just adapters as you pointed out as they have no IPs and are mapped to existing PCs as \\<whatever>\<printer>

Little more history/problems:

Ive had one offiline for some time (as the printer attached died) and I just got a new pritner in for it so I hooked the little pocket doo-hickey back up tot he LAN, and the parallel cable and I cant get even the old printers to print from it now they can "see" it just fine but when I isntall it and hit" print" not a damn thing happens
