Can't see blue power LED on Lian Li case

Just got the Lian Li PC-30 case....it's got a blue LED for the power and a red LED for the hard drive. For some reason, I cannot at all see the blue power LED when I look down at the case from my desk. The only way to see the blue power LED is to look at it straight-on, no angle, from the floor. But I can see the red hard drive LED from anywhere. The LEDs appear to be identical except for color, and the lenses are identical.

My only guess as to the reason for this is that maybe it has to do with the refraction of blue through the lens? Has anyone come up with a solution to this problem?

Mine does the same thing on my PC60 and I have wondered the same thing. I hope there is an easy fix because I want to change all my LEDs to blue.

For blue LED's that can be seen from all angles, order the Ultra Bright blue LED's from Hosfelt Electronics. By way of comparison, Radio Shack's blue LED's are 300mcd. Hosfelt's Ultra Brights are 6000mcd.

A month ago or so, someone else reported that they had a "dim blue power LED" on their Lian Li.

See if the problem is with the motherboard header or the case LEDs.

Try to swap the IDE and power LED connectors from the case to the motherboard and see if there is a difference in intensity.

If so, then your motherboard power LED header isn't sending enough current (bad motherboard).

If not, then maybe you have a bad blue LED (bad case).

I have the PC-60, got it back in April and the blue led is BRIGHT. It projects onto my wall opposite of the PC.

Assuming my motherboard header is not at fault, how do I replace the LED? Do I need to add a resistor to the circut or just replace the LED?

Every couple of months, this problem arises. Blue LED's are cool. The trick to getting them to work right is to plug them into the correct mobo header. Apparrently most power LED headers don't put out enough voltage to get them to light up right. If your mobo has a "turbo LED" header, try that (it works for me, so that's what I use). Otherwise, you're just gonna have to settle for stock greens (or if you blues were stock, you gotta switch to low voltage greens). I haven't seen any 5mm low voltage blues out there, but those would work if you don't have a turbo LED header.

When I plug the led into the turbo header, I get no light whatsoever. I too have an epox 8kha+. Anyone know if the headers are commonly faulty? I may just be doing something wrong.

Make sure you have the polarity right (the current in diodes, LED's, only runs one way). Just try switching the pins. If you're sure the polarity is correct, then try looking in your bios. Since you're using the same mobo as I am, I can tell you that there's a setting at activates "turbo" (remember that from your 486 days?). Make sure that your "turbo" settings option is active. That should do it.

Cubic,

I too have an 8kha+. It didnt look like I could plug into my turbo header because the wire for my power light was three pins wide and there was only enough room for two.

i had the dim led problem about a month ago...switched motherboards, and then it was really bright.

I don't recall the headers on my 8KHA+, but I remember that the wires off my LED were seperated, and had seperate terminals. That's how I was able to do that. I suppose you could buy terminals and cut your wires (do some modding).

I cant see my power LED unless I am looking directly at it. I can see my HDD light from almost any angle. Anyone know if the Lian-Li LEDs are 3v or 5v?

my power led works great, can be seen from all angles and is very powerful
