Can't search with Yahoo or Google, how to fix?

When I type in something at yahoo and click search, it won't search. When I try to go to google.com, it won't load. Yahoo and Google work on my other 2 comupters but not this one. I've ran Adaware and it removed all of the spy ware but yahoo and google still don't work. I think some site might have hijacked my computer but I don't know how to fix it. Can anyone help?

Small world, i'm having the same issue as well. Hell, i'm posting this through my neighbor's wireless access point.

Machine that is having the problem is XP SP1 if that means anything.

The hosts file didnt seem to be changed in any way, just the normal loopback entry. ipconfig /flushdns didnt help either. Oddly, i CAN pull up google by it's IP.

i'll be damned... I guess this counts as the first viral infection my home network has seen in 4 years. That site had all the info needed and my box is now back to normal.

But is your friend really competent enough to be messing around in the registry if he/she is asking that kind of question...

WIN98, ME, 2K, XP? Is tcp/ip showing up under network components?

You can try removing/reinstalling drivers for network cards (and dialup networking on 98/me)

You've got QHOST just like Savij said. Follow those instructions there.

Then download the patches from Microsoft. And get a firewall. And keep your AV up-to-date.

And don't forget to turn off your System Restore or you'll keep reinfecting yourself.
