Can't run RTCW?

hey all, i jsut got rtcw and after i run it, it performs the GL init sequence and then changes res, i hear sound for approximatly half a second then it either drops back to desktop or freezes, i can still con-alt-del out of it though..

I'm using a Gladiac Geforce 2 mx, 4.13.01.2183 drivers.

Just some basics:

Have you tried "Safe Mode"?

Are you running the default settings?

Is anything overclocked?

Have you checked the "Read Me" for any potential "issues"?

tried safe mode, haven't changed settings ebcause i am unable to get into the game

checked any support things in helpfiles but its always the same ol mundane stuff . "make sure you have latest drivers, get newest directx, etc"

I'm running win98 also

On the beta versions RTCW, it would run strangely until I installed directx 8. I assume you installed it?

Matter of fact I had 8.1 at first, that didn't work. So i managed to get directx off my system all together and pu 8.0 back on, still no go..

NOthings o/c'd or anything...Hehe, i been waiting for this game for quite a while, dont wanna have to return it i'd do anything to get it workin
