Hi,

I have a brand NEW Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2 (Rev 2.0) Mobo and have gone through several pairs of DDR sticks and I have now finally purchased two sticks of brand NEW Crucial Ballistix 512 MB PC3200 DDR memory, however this damn system will NOT run in Dual Channel mode @ 400 MHz memory speed.

I have a SATA 74gb HDD, WinXP home SP2, audigy gamer sound card, Geforce FX 5600 Ultra AGP, and plextor DVD burner.. The system works FINE at 266 Mhz memory speed in Dual CHannel mode.

Is there anything I can do settings-wise, or is this mobo just plain shitty???

Thx for your input

Punish,

Have you tried bumping the DIMM voltage to 2.7 or 2.8?

BTW... Welcome to the Forums! :)

You left out one key point to your system, what CPU speed is it???
If it's a 2400+ or lower, then 266MHz is normal. You should be running the ram synchronously to the
cpu FSB. Let us know what you have.

I'm running a 3200+/400 MHz fsb... As soon as I finish typing this, I'm gonna try raising the voltage :)

Hey man, thx for the tip. I boosted the voltage +.2 V, that's the max my mobo would allow.

Unfortunately, it still doesn't work. I get a BSOD that says IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP: 0x0000000A or something like it.

I have been reading the forums a lot and it "appears" that most mobos can only run dual channel at 333MHz not 400. My system works fine at 333 Dual or 400 single mode. Have you heard of this?

And if this is the case, then which setup is better, running at 400 MHz in single chan or 333 in dual chan??

Make sure the VDimm is set to 2.8v and all the timings are set right-> CL-2,2,2,6. Also make sure the BIOS is reporting the processor right.

The voltage is set at +.2v which is the max adjustment the mobo allows, its approx. 2.78 v currently. Unless I'm an idiot, I see NO settings whatsoever to adjust the CL settings.
