Can't reinstall Vista 64-bit

wayliff

Lifer
150GB raptor with two partitions.
The first partition has Windows XP Pro and that has been working fine.

I installed Vista 64 bit on the second partition and it installed fine.
Since I was unable to resolve a raid driver issue with vista, i decided to reformat that partition and try to reinstall again. The installation with Raid drivers failed this time.
I reformatted the partition and I went to try to install Vista again...I had to cancel the vista installation when I was asked to install...so I shut down and left.

Now I have the time to do it and I have tried to install it...vista loads the files, then I see the progress bar with the microsoft name...then the first graphical background comes up and before the first screen to make a choice of what to do...it hangs and goes no further.
I have waited up to 5 mins and It does nothing...

Does anybody have any clue what is going on?

Thanks

Are you running the sata as a RAID or as native pata. If you it is set for raid then it might not find the hard drive to install the hardware, might have to install drivers for the raid to work.

I had a similar problem which turned out to be a corrupted hard drive partition. Try full-formatting the offending partition, NTFS. Try also unplugging the other RAID drives while installing, just to be sure.
