Can't receive Email

I just setup KERIO on my computer running window 2000 server. I had no problem sending emails, but I can't receive any emails. I host my domain in xname.org and I had setup the MX record (don't know if I set it up correct). If I setup my email as follow "admin@www.mydomain.com" it work, if I setup the email as "admin@mydomain.com" it doesn't work. I did a lot of research on how to setup MX record, I had a feeling that the MX record setup I had is wrong.

My MX record in xname.org is as follow:

MX: Pref: 0 www.mydomain.com.
MX: Pref: 10 mail.mydomain.com.
MX: Pref: 20 mydowmain.com.

Beside the MX record do I need to setup anything on the computer? Change the computer name? I am sure I had forwarded all the ports to the computer that is running the email App. I had tried a lot of setting any help will be really appericated. I really need help on this.

Most likley it is not your MX record that is wrong. I would check your email server setting.

The email domain name should be mydomain.com not www.mydomain.com.

If it is www.mydomain.com then it will only accept emails coming to someone@www.mydomain.com.

Hope that helps. I never used Kerio but it sounds like a fundamental problem.

I changed my MX setting to the following but it is still not working:

MX: Perf: 10 mydomain.com.

MX: Pref: 0 www.mydomain.com.

You need to make sure your MX record is pointing to your FQDN (fully qualified domain name) of the email server.

So if you have mydomain.com = your IP of your email server that would work and oyu need to remove any other settings.

Plus you need to make sure in your email server you have the domain name setup to recieve emails to mydomain.com not www.mydomain.com

Ok I am pretty sure that the MX record I had is wrong, I did a DNS lookup at dnsreport.com it won't come up with anything when I do a serch on someon@mydomain.com. If I do a search on "someone@www.mydomain.com" it come back with the MX record. I tried to send a email to "someone@www.mydomain.com" I will receive a delivery failure right away. All the emails I sent to "someone@mydomain.com" is still lost somewhere in the internet, I am sure they will come back as a delivery failure.

However I had no problem receive and send emails within my home network. Anyone know beside anandtech where else I can found answer or help to my problem.

your mx record has noting to do with the domain after the @ in the addy. all the mx record does is establish who is accepting/relaying mail for your domain. the MX records needs to be the FQDN of the machine thats running the mail server.
