i have a tdk 8x4x32 RW drive. i have been able to read cd rw media before. however, just recently i've been unable to read any kind of cdrw media (i have tried compusa, tdk, memorex cd media). these cdrw media are able to be seen in my dvd drive. my drive doesn't read the media therefore i cannot erase or do ANYTHING with them. this drive reads regular media including cd-r discs fine, also burns cd-r discs fine. i'm using win2k and have also tried testing ability of burning cdrw media in nero and the latest adaptec.

HELP!

Thanks.

if you have the resources, try the drive in a different computer. If not, I suggest picking up a blazing fast 52x24x52x lite-on cd/rw drive from newegg for around 45 bucks. can't beat it.

You may want to try updating the firmware in the drive
if you haven't done so already.

I have seen Win2k with SP2-3 look at older (yes even 2yr old drives)
ATAPI drives like they don't exsist or act extremely flakey.

veloCD 8/4/32 ReWriter Firmware upgrade 1.07

Just be careful when updating. A bad update could render the drive useless.

do you use any CDRW formatting software, like InCD from Nero or whatever comes w/ EZ CD Creator?
