Can't read a Data DVD-R on 2 DVD-Roms

I'm burning a DVD-R filled with .avi files using Nero 6. I can read the disc from my DVD burner but when I place the disc in either of my 2 DVD-Rom drives on 2 seperate computers, it doesn't read. The error I get it:

"windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows."

The DVD-Rom drives I'm using are a Hitachi and a Toshiba SD-M1212. Now the weird thing is that when I place an older data disc or a video disc in the Toshiba DVD-Rom drive, it's plays fine. I even tried in my Xbox with Xbox Media Center and it reads it fine.

Please understand that I'm not trying to play the .avi files as a DVD in some kind of dvd player. I'm just double clicking on my DVD-Rom drive and it gives me the above error.

Also, I'm using G04 Riteks which everyone says are good media. I personally can't remember if I've burned a coaster with them and I've gone through 200+ of them.

Sigh. I'm never going to figure this out. I just reinstalled Nero and I used Nero Express which should have burnt about a standard a disc as is possible. It reads on my DVD burner and my Xbox but I still get the "windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows" on the other 2 DVD-Rom drives which makes no sense since I'm able to read dvd data discs on them that I burned months ago.

That is weird.

Try the burnt disc in your writer, and use Nero's "Disc Info" option from the Recorder menu - is anything showing up there?
