Can't push 1700+ higher than 166*9.5 and I should be able to...

Meh, I give up :\

It froze on my while I left it alone

That would haev been so sweet to actually hit 1.8ghz

If I lower my FSB though can i make my ram do it so I don't lose that "syncronous operation" because that is wher the nforce2's sweetspot is.

or does that exist only @ 133 & 166

You mean dual channel operation? You need 2 sticks of ram for that, and it has nothing to do with FSB speed. Your CPU is probably just not upto doing 1.83gig. try this: 10.5x172=1806 , just a little lower speed, but saometimes enough to get it stable, and your ram should be able to handle this at 2.0-3-3-6 timmings I would think.

I'm doing 10.5 * 171

I started at 10.5*177 and haev slowly been working my way down and @ 172 I still froze...

So i figure now just slowly keep lowering it

Btw, I'm worried my ram (got it from newegg) might be pc2100 rebadged. Did Crucial rebadge their pc2700s? b/c their pc3200 are pc2700s rebadged @ cas3

and in the "optimal" setting in my bios it would setup my ram (at 171...) as 8-4-4-3

though i overrode it and changed that to 7-3-3-2.5 😀

You really think the ram could take 6-3-3-2?

Once you find the max your CPU will do, then start with optomizing (playing around with 🙂 your ram).
Go ahead and try 2.0-3-3-6, and if that seems to be a problem, then 2.0-3-3-7, and if that fails, 2.5-3-3-6.
Also, you can add a little voltage in bios to the ram as well. If there is a 2.6volt setting, try that. My Epox gives me: 2.5 (stock) 2.63, 2.77, 2.9volt choices, and I run mine at the 2.63volt.

If you want to really find out what your ram will do independantly of the CPU, you would want to run your CPU at a safe (low multiplier) but crank the ram speed and timmings like maybe:6x175MHz 2.0-3-3-5 and experiment, concentrating on ram overclocking.

I doubt Crucial re-badges their PC2100 to PC2700, but who knows, especially if they play with timmings to meet a spec.

It won't take 6-3-3-2(will post but errors in Windows....It passes all of memtest86 perfectly but it fails test @5 with over 15,000 errors), or 7-3-3-2(will post but windows crashes), but it takes 7-3-3-2.5

but then again there is no cooling on the memory

Though should I try upping the voltage? You said your voltage @ default was 2.5, but mine is 2.6 default so I'm wondering if its too risky (IE: greatly shorten the lifespan) to upp it a little more and see if i can take 7-3-3-2?

Looks like you are at the wall, but still with a very decent result. I would recommend keeping a close eye on stability with what you have now, and call it good. If your bios allows small increments to the ram voltage, go ahead and bump it a little, but I would stay below 2.7volts if you can. Preferably 2.65volts would be ideal.

Once you know the limmits of your ram, and the fastest speed your CPU will run, you can play with multipliers, FSB and voltages to achive the most stable, low temp settings for your system.
